Back in the day, it was very common because there were a lot more "direct" flights (i.e. kind of like Southwest still has). After the plane landed, the FA would give their normal "check-around-your-seat, be-careful-when-opening-overheads, "thank-you-so-much" PA and then they would say, "For those of you continuing on to yyy, our scheduled departure time is z:zz. If you would like to deplane, please take your BP stub with you as it is needed to re-board the flight." Pretty simple!!!
