You're missing the point. There was a large amount of additional data made available - primarily through FoIA requests. Most of that has been ignored here. As stated in some of the points above, the story has changed several times by the TSA - there is no doubt about that - but simply saying "these machines allow images to be saved" is absolutely misleading. The general public isn't going to dig through hundreds of pages of FoIA-released material to find out what exactly that means, they're just going to take it at face value and be irrationally scared by it as a result.
