  • No seat pockets = no sweet wrappers, chewing gum and tatty, sticky written-on copies of High Life. (I still don't understand how a supposedly classy airline with superior staff can allow its passengers to be welcomed with such an item, except with the pristine copies on the first of the month).
  • FR seat pitch is 30 inches compared with BA Europeasant at 31 inches http://www.airlinequality.com/Product/seats_europe.htm (though I know that the first few rows have more). I can suffer the odd inch.
  • No seat recline = more room for knees.
  • Extras? Where is FR's fuel penalty? At least when you buy, you're aware of all the charges.

I don't buy anything on board. I don't like the garish colour scheme but I'm prepared to accept the fanfare because it denotes FR's good timekeeping.

For me, it's horses for courses, or in FT-speak YMMV. I've not used FR this year. At today's offer rate of 7 GBP all in (provided that ... etc etc), they're far too expensive.

FR seem to have coped well substituting for BA this week. I can't help feeling that this was unannounced PR for Ryanair demonstrating that they have a satisfactory operation, unlike what some BA passengers have been (mis?)led to expect. Interesting to see MO'L standing up for BA this week.
I see now why I made you a Mucci. You are now awarded the Order of the Diamante Hairbrush.
