I suppose the bigger and more interesting question might be, if the door has not been closed, can they legally prevent you from departing the plane? I know they will try to cite all sorts of policy and made up laws, but when you really get down to it, is it illegal?

I mean, if you want off the plane, what are they going to do handcuff you to the seat and make you take the flight? The normal recourse for someone not listening would be to remove them.
