I've tried continually over the years to use the hotel certificates - and have always either found "no hotel" in that city honoring the discount or rates that can easily be beat on expedia, travelocity or hoteldiscounts.com .

However, I do see how if you were doing more suite type stays, you might be able to save some $$$'s.

I have found the car certs to be marginally more useful. Again, you can only use them for a midsize car, and the rates are often so much cheaper for a compact that I don't use the cert (but if you need a midsize, it could help).
