Indulge me while I pontificate. The hotel/car add-on's for upgrade awards were essentially worthless. The only decent hotel/car add-on's were with a full F freebie. Never cashed in a coach freebie. So, it's maybe a mixed bag. In summary, upgrading hotels and cars is highly questionable.
