Maybe they should be required, shouldn't they? They seemed to have worked in reducing the hijacking on international flights. Notice how these terrorists passed on using international flights with twice as much fuel on board (e.g. 767s going to S. America or one of the many 747s going to Asia)?

True, but it can help at the margin and it can dissuade terrorists from using that type of tool. A cockpit door, as we all know, does nothing to stop a "determined, well prepared, suicidal [or not]individual", yet wouldn't you think that the number of hijackings would increase if we removed it?
