Commuter...only the actual flying miles/points count towards status...not the platinum elite bonus, nor the miles from exchanging upgrades...

an analogy to what you are used to with CX...you get MPO Club Miles for flying oneworld (adjusted by class-of-service and discounted economy)...and these counts towards your MPO status...while all the other bonuses you get in AA (elite bonus, bonus from exchanging upgrades, etc) are just like Asia Miles...it's useful for getting awards, but does not help your status...
