The bridges that connect the expressways to nowhere? The one near me, the Shimanami Kaido, is the very definition of a white elephant. You can bet your last 2 yen that when the expressways become free the bridges to Shikoku will still cost a fortune to cross. With all the ferry companies going bust there'll soon be NO WAY OFF THE ISLAND! No cheap way at least.
