No, all airlines have differences, but most I have traveled (including several Asian ones) will always give you some credit no matter which of their multiple economy classes you fly.

ACTUALLY the prices between Hong Kong and Shanghai are pretty close on MU and KA, and quite frankly, I've found the service MUCH better on the MU flights I've taken.

It really depends on the airline. Some airlines will not give you credit for shorter hops. Or will give you a set amount for shorter hops.

All airlines have different plans, which is fine. I SHOULD have been clearer before booking my ticket, but I took a long, expensive (seriously) flight, and didn't get milage credit. I'm sure you'd be a little unhappy too.
