If you checked with your agent you shouldn't have needed to check yourself -I think I agree with the "get a new agent scenario" If you have "more important things" to do with your time-I'd think it's essential you have a good agent-and this is pretty basic stuff for any business travel agent (I know-I used to be one)
Personally miles earning IS important enough to me to double check when flying an unfamilar partner airline or an odd class pops up but maybe that's just me.
