Er, welcome to FlyerTalk, I guess!
Well, thank you for your welcome to FlyerTalk, but I'm afraid I will have to disagree with you about it being stated VERY clearly on the Asia Miles website about N class.
I will give you that it states something like "tickets not issued in the following classes will not ean miles" and then lists like 10 different letters of classes that earn miles. I don't see anywhere that it specifically lists a class that does not earn miles. Maybe it does say something specifically about N class on the website, but I didn't see it, so if it does, it's not VERY clear. And all I had on my reservation was "Economy" class.
Granted, I could have called the airline after I had my reservation and specifically checked whether or not this ticket would earn miles, but actually, I have more important things to do with my time, so I assumed it would earn miles. Yes, never assume anything, I know.
In response to your query, yes, actually, I did ask the agent before hand and the agent is following up now to see if they can make it up to me. The agent actually said that Dragon did not inform them of the class beforehand. They're still following up ...
But regardless, I think it's outrageous that for a flight this long and this expensive to not have it earning miles. It's not like it was a free ticket, and it really wasn't that cheap - I've had miles earn at 150% of the mileage flown and the ticket was cheaper.
Basically, I think it's just crazy to have so many classes of tickets. I can't how it isn't designed to confuse people.
Anyway, like I said, I did learn my lesson.
