What the Business Traveller news item suggested that, prior to this new LHR-DRS service, the most convenient alternative airport to Dresden was Berlin. That's because there's a greater choice of flights.

There used to be a Leipzig service with Air Berlin but that no longer exists. It's true that FR flies into Altenburg (near Leipzig) but it's from STN and, besides, there's the bother of having to get into Leipzig before you take the train from there to Dresden.
