An important point to remember is that AA's power ports use a standard 12v auto (cigarette lighter) plug while many other airlines require an Empower connector. The Port/Targus power supply provides both through an included adapter. (I have seen functionally similar adapters at local electronics stores).

The Port/Targus product also allows you to change the power "tip" (the actual plug connecting to your laptop). Since each tip is physically different and controls the supplied voltage, by changing the tip you can use the adapter with a new laptop.
