Bruce, I too and grateful for your honest and open responses.

I can understand the business case from dropping TT business class from many flights, although I have found WLG-SYD business full occasionally. It will be historic and slightly sad that it is the end of a premium class on NZ international flights from CHC and WLG, given the long history of first then business class on these routes, but understandable.

Space + retained domestically is welcome, losing it TT is very unfortunate. It is like the difference between 34" on the NZ 744s and 31" on QF 744s. It would make a big difference to my perceptions of choosing NZ over QF (as I am in both FF schemes) if Space + is retained.

Notwithstanding that, the "Works deluxe" concept is certainly interesting. For me, I'd appreciate the empty neighbouring seat, but:

- Legroom matters too, even if it were 34" pitch for the first few rows.
- What sort of meal will be offered? Will it be like the current light meal in economy TT? Closer to long haul economy or the current business class meal? It IS one of the important components, particularly on evening flights when there may not be enough time at the airport to buy food.
- If I buy a fully flexible ticket, does it default as "the Works" or "Works deluxe"?

I'd expect when booking being offered a bare economy fare and having options to pay for luggage, meal and for a "premium" product (essentially "Works Deluxe" is short haul premium economy/economy plus/economy extra).

Finally, I am sure we will all want to know what will be earned in Airbucks from different fares. I'd expect more for Works Deluxe (somewhat between business and full economy).
