I fly next week, so I'll let you know how it works in practice. Apparently the bus from GHB to ELH leaves 2 hours ahead of flight time. That is 1.5 hours lost, no matter how long one spends in a bus.
Of course, if the bus turns off to drop everyone at their hotel/house, it could easily take 1.5 hours for those of us going south of GHB. One it is good for one person may be bad for everyone else.
So, you would rather fly to an unsafe airport than be inconvenienced? I honestly don't blame American on this issue. If they were notified that the airport was unsafe and they continued to fly there, the liability issues would be astounding if some sort of incident occurred.
