It really depends on what you want I guess. If you don't already use Gmail or Google Apps and have your calendar on Google and your address book on Google I would not recommend an Android phone. They have some good apps though the pre really has everything you need and is a solid phone. Their app catalog may not be as big, though I don't really think that is too large of a factor unless you were looking to be playing a lot of games on your phone. As an iPhone user I have found that even with 100K+ apps to choose from there are only a handful I regularly use and most of those are games. Pretty much everything else is already on the phone or I prefer to use the web browser. For example there are numerous threads here about this or that app for checking flight status though I still think mobile.flightstats.com is just as good if not better than any app.
