I flew BKK-NRT on JO using miles back in 2007 connecting on to QF NRT-SYD as there was no direct availability BKK-SYD so you certainly used to be able to.

Go on give GGL a call, I'm sure they would love to deal with a helpful query rather than angry, strike affected passengers.
