this is true. when i worked there, the wife and I took a few trips to NRT just for sushi at Tsukiji after looking at loads and deciding our weekend was empty. for trips to Hawaii for Christmas, though (I'm from there so we go visit family for the holidays) we never wanted to chance flying SA so we always bought tickets.
