In other breaking news, Elvis has died.

However, it's good that they highlighted Matsumoto airport as a poster-child of uselessness. Even when I lived down the road from there it still made more sense for me to take a train to Tokyo for any flight. Through various iterations of the timetable, the "connections" to international gateways (e.g. KIX or FUK) were always too late to make any connections. (And flight times in the opposite direction were similarly stupid). I recall hearing that the airport served Seiko Epson fairly well ... not sure exactly how.
