Yeah, I ended up finding her a connection that will give her 2 hrs at SFO. I figure the immigration lane for non-US passengers will probably longer, same for the security lane after rechecking her luggage.
It's really a pity that out of all the major UA hubs, only IAD has a dedicated immigration + security check for transfer passengers. ORD being the worst, making pax taking the airtran from int'l terminal to terminal A is by far the most tiresome and confusing process, especially for those whose native language is not English.
Our government needs to take a look at how other airports in the world work like ICN, NRT, or even YYZ or YVR. If the Canadian airports, which subject pax to go through immigration upon arrival from overseas like the US, can make transfer pax life easy, why can't the US do the same?
