I don't disagree with what you have said about Toyoko Inn, but I was referring to their facilities as opposed to their evilness. I'm sure if you do due diligence on everyone - ryokans included - there are many discriminating owners - gaijin haters etc. Japan is not necessarily a country that is accomodating to the elderly and the lame. How often do you see train stations that are wheelchair accessible. How often do you see people in wheelchairs? I don't. And I would remember if I saw one.. because it will be so different for me.
