I would think as long as it was a) proscribed to you and in packaging indicating as such (ie. pharmacy label on the pill bottle/box) and it's b) in a quantity consistent with your duration of travel... there wouldn't be any problems with it.
Of course if it's something on the extreme end of things (powerful sedatives), then you might just want to make a direct inquiry with UAE Customs by telephone and see what the situation is "on the ground".
Agreed. If you want to do everything by the book you will have to follow the rules as outlined above. That is the way it is, you want to visit this country, so you have to respect their laws.
Having said, that, if you are not extremely unlucky, you should not get into any problems if you do things reasonably as indicated by pr0digy25.
