I've always contacted the hotel directly, as I've found the hotel staff to be good. In the case of the All Seasons in Northbridge, they ended up crediting me directly. (This meant it appeared as a "bonus" on my account with no nights, but they were also generous with their credit.) In the case of a Mercure here, the hotel emailed A-Club (and cc'd me on the email), and after that the points appeared within about 24 hours.
