Arriving in Dubai w/prescription drugs, will it be a problem?

Aplogies in advance but I checked the Travel Destination Forum and the sub forum for the Middle East but could not find an answer. I figure as the members here fly into DUbai you all may have the answer.

I am going to go on a cruise leaving from Dubai. I will be in Dubai less than 20 hours before I leave on the cruise. I have been reading that you can not bring in Xanax or Ambien or Paracetamol w/codeine. I have prescription for the first two. I have read on the web that you need a MD's note and a copy of the script and a letter verifying that all is in order from the UAE embassy.

Any experiences here? What a way to discourage tourism if you can't bring in legit presecriptions. Is it the same procedure for passengers disembarking in Dubai and flying home? I have never heard of any problems in that respect and just heard of problems at arrival at the airport. I did go on the Dubai website and it had lists and lists of prescription meds that you can not bring in.

Thanks for any insights.
