If you look carefully at your e-ticket receipt it will always say 'place of issue - LAXWEB'. I was burned by this once already. If you are on the east coast make sure you wait until after 3:00 am if you want to have 2 full days to cancel risk free.
In the NW days, it was always done by where the first leg of the trip started. Of course, with DL, you might wait until the next eclipse to get your refund.
