The main nuisance were the parents who were constantly talking loudly while standing up (sic!) and making demented noises. I am sure that they found a way to justify their behaviour to themselves. So it would have been important to have this illusion being deleted by a disciplined crew.

While I much prefer SQ hardware of LH's, I had great LH crews telling misbehaving parents off upon request.
If the crew appeared to side with one set of passengers and intervene it would most likely only inflame the situation.
You could say the very same thing about alcoholics and drug users: let them harass the other pax a bit as when you confront them, they might get angry.
I guess there are different rules when it comes to children.
Children would definitely make the situation more difficult. But parents are adults and they can be told off.

I won't dare to ask what they did to you in Zurich !

The pax were complaining. The droids just couldn't be bothered with interfering. I was reasonably disappointed with the SQ crew, I have to admit.
Hence yeah, that's probably the one route where someone can even lite up whatever because the thought of going back is a whole lot worse for everyone else...
That was en route from SYD - naturally - not your feared ZRH.
