I had downloaded Chrome a couple months ago, but just decided to give it a try.

....... for it stinks. It still downloads ads, shows them to you for a second, then they disappear. I switched to AdThwart, which works better, but is still not completely blocking ads. It just doesn't let you see them.

In general, it's maybe a little faster, but not so much noticeably more than FF. I haven't used Safari in years, though still have it set as my default browser for some reason.

I have yet to decide if there's any real benefit to Chrome, or if it's just another browser.
