Steak Frites at Heathrow - waste of time

Last month we passed through LHR T3. We thought we'd have a quick bite to eat at Chez Gerard, the French Bistro that specialises in Steak Frites. We both chose the house speciality Medium Rare. After a short while the food came and we began to tuck in. We realised they hadn't brought us any Steak Knives. We queried this with the waiter, who confirmed that they can't issue sharp knives (security), instead we had to use a tiny little knife with a blunt head the size of a tea spoon. It was impossible to cut the steak, we hadn't ordered the fillet. We asked the waiter how we were to eat steak without a proper knife, he simply shrugged. We ended up sending our food back and getting them to cut the steak into bite size pieces for us.

What is the point of serving food that can't be eaten properly? At least warn people that your £40 meal for 2 will either have to be eat with your hands or be sent back and will end uplooking like a dogs dinner. By the time the food came back it was cold - it took them almost 10 minutes to cut the steak. I suspect they had to get security in to remove the chefs knife from the safe.

If you do find yourself in Chez Gerard at T3 LHR I would suggest giving anything a miss that you think you will need a knife to cut your food with.
