To my fellow lovers of Ancient Rome on March 15th 2010:
This is a nice page on the Ides of March that I just found:
http://penelope.uchicago.edu/~grout/...ndar/ides.html
And here's a
googlemap streetview of the Republican ruins where Julius met his end. It's the view of what remains of Pompey's massive monumental buildings which once spread for blocks and blocks - and one of the small handful of sites where you can see still Republican Rome.
Here's a related page from the site linked above detailing the
Portico of Pompey.
(It's interesting how so many will still argue that Caesar was assassinated in the Senate house in the forum).
Had to post, I love this stuff. And I can't be the only one, right?
