FYI: This thread details rates at mid-town Roosevelt Hotel, from $99+. It's still good as of a few minutes ago when I booked June 11-13 for the Soup Do and Dan's BRT; best of all, it's cancellable til 4pm day of.

I don't know much about this hotel (Tripadvisor reviews are mixed); all I know is that any decent hotel < $100 nightly in mid-town Manhattan is a steal, and the location of this one next to Grand Central is wonderful.
