I'm in a similar situation, though I haven't booked yet, looking for travel in late June. This is the only information I found:

AA Travel Notice

This states:
From March 8 - August 23, 2010, flights scheduled into and out of Governors Harbour will operate into and out of North Eleuthera (ELH) due to runway landing restrictions.

Landing restrictions could support the Nassau Guardian article, but the length of time is much longer than what the article suggested.

I called AA, but the rep could only tell me that the cancellation of the flight was temporary and didn't even tell me it was re-routed to ELH. She said the information they had didn't state when the flights would be resumed.

Any additional information on the length of the outage would be greatly appreciated. I don't know if I should go ahead and book to ELH, nor whether AA would reroute me to GHB should it open in time for my trip.
