I think Hippopotamus steakhouses are worth a try. But once in a time should be enough.
Don't miss Berthillons ice cream
And don't go up the Eiffel Tower, even if your hotel is close. I prefer Tour Montparnasse

For lunch i'd go to the Marais Quarter around Rue des Rosiers for some yiddish food (Falafel King, Finkelsztajn...).

Some places I could imagine going to with kids (some I haven't been for years, so perhaps a local can help):
- Pause Café, 41 rue de Charonne
- L'oeuf Mayo, 42, rue Coquillère
- Restaurant in Printemps Haussmann department store, 64 boulevard Haussmann, 6th floor
- Chartier, 7 Rue du Faubourg Montmartre (very, very, VERY touristy as it's in every tourist guide!!! great location, food is....ok)
- Piccola Strada, 6 Rue Yvonne le Tac
