Redeeming LH miles as SEN/HON has excellent availability. I think $3500 for a Z fare is reasonable, and I think being able to obtain miles to redeem at ~$2000 / RT is an excellent deal given that on award tickets, D class availability is relevant and there is no 50 day advance booking requirement unlike in Z fares.
I, so far, knock on wood, have not had an LH flight that was unavailable using US miles on LH metal. Maybe it is because I am getting F tickets.
I agree, I would never fly on US metal. LH and LX for me.
Or if in business, I would use AC. It seems pretty nice.
Yes, it's still a good deal if you are going to pay $3500 for a ticket. Not a steal. US Buy Miles or Track It Back are/was a steal.
The first part of my post was for people who never fly and just want incredibly cheap business class tickets; US is cheaper.
The second part was for business travelers, and for them it is a great deal because of all the other benefits they get, and even a steal if they normally pay for business class tickets.
