The 50% bonus starts Jan 1 of each year. You should receive this tier bonus assuming you selected it as part of your benefit choices. You could have also earned bonus miles after your early Elite qualification in 2009.

In this case you early qualified for 2009 Elite (which also earned you Elite for 2010). So (assuming you selected the benefit) you would have received:
- 50% mileage bonus in 2009 after the date you received Elite
- 50% mileage bonus in 2010
