I had a similar problem at the Tampa Bay Hyatt recently. Housekeeping brought an ozone machine and I had to vacate the room for an hour while they ran it. However, I thought it was the chemical residue from the cleaning, and not something done by intent. Whatever the odor was in my room, it hurt my throat, nasal passages and eyes, as well as giving me a headache. Not fun.
