I'd be happy to split the 20% discount with my company, or even give them the whole thing. But for many of us, it's pretty much impossible to convince the bean-counters of anything other than what they see on the invoice.

Guess what? We also get a per diem based solely on location. I usually eat cheap, and pocket the rest. Would your company fire me for that too?

Interestingly, I usually find that it's the uber-left that believe in the 'fixed pie' economic scenario. In other words, if I'm benefiting, someone else must be getting hurt. Who is getting hurt here? Tell me! The company is paying the same rate they would have paid anyway (trust me, I'm on a gov't rate, so it's fixed and all the hotels have the same gov't rate), Costco is happy they sold some certs, and Hyatt must be happy or else they wouldn't be selling the certs in the first place -- and it got me to stay there instead of the Marriott.
