Help: Hitting CP too soon: Points opinion/options plz.
Hello All-
Long time lurker, first time reg and poster. Started flying again May of 09 and have racked up 91.5 on SWA by way of 2.25 BS flights mostly to BUR from SJC + the .5 off Hertz. My company allows me to fly BS and book through SWABiz.
So here I sit with 8.5 to go and a pair of .5 Hertz rentals soon to be credited putting me @ 7.5 left to hit CP. The problem is I guess I need to wait to 4/1 to get the most out of my CP and I have 2 flights pending between now and the end of the month.
Flight 1 is this coming week is BS SJC-LAS and back so that is 1.25 each leg- bringing me to 5 points to go and no car rental.
Flight 2 is an unbooked BS SJC -BUR the week after and I (shocking as this now sounds) made the mistake of registering for the intra-Calif. 1 point bonuses so that means my trip up and back instead of totaling 2.5 will be 2.25 each way = 4.5. That would bring the total to 99.5.
Aaah I'm .5 short so I'm set, right? Well no because the Hertz car rental (who we have to use) will credit me .5 for the BUR trip so I nail CP in the 3rd week of March- a week or so short of 4/1.
I know some of you may say "boo hoo, he's complaining about reaching CP *too early*" and for that I'm sorry but it's a perk so why not try and maximize what I'm getting for the travel.
So... is there a way to remove my RR from Hertz and stay .5 away until 4/1 or is there a better angle to this maybe not going BS on the BUR flight and fall back to A-List to not take the .5 from the 2 legs? Maybe give the RR points from Hertz on the second flight to a co-worker using their RR #?
I think I know the answer but it seemed like such the puzzle for the harder core travel pros here to ponder.
Thanks in advance-
