The shell seat is nothing like QF Mk 1, which goes closer to the floor as you recline. The jal seat does not sink much and goes fairly flat, but it's not totally flat (you dont notice it).
Hoping for a 4 class aircraft sold as 3 class ...just be sure to be preallocated in rows 1-3, you'll need status to get these babies.
In any case, JAL service is fantastic - you'll have a great flight!
