I doubt you'll get anywhere with that argument. When they say "taxes" I'm sure they're referring to North American practice of adding GST or state/provincial sales taxes at the point of sale. What you paid BD was more a series of surcharges, levies, duties, fees and charges. And as RAPC says, it's all perfectly above board here.
