There has been discussions about the Group numbers here before...

There are basically 5 Group numbers or maybe 4, i'm not sure, but Group F is First Class, Group 1 is for Elites, Group 2-3 are for non-elites with row numbers. It is suppose to dispearse the crowded gates before boarding,espcially if you are in BDL coming from personal experience

With many critics for this, personally i like it...because yesterday's TW run...TW did not have my AAdvantage # on the Boarding Pass..i asked two different people and made sure that they have this for this trip. then when they start boarding...i had to pull out my AA Gold card to justify my Elite status...it would really be bad if I didn't bring my AA gold card with me. Because of that...I prefer the Group numbers...cus they just look at your Group numbers and be done with it.
