Actually both you and Stranger are right.

SE/E/P members can upgrade at the 7/4/2 days window, but if their upgrade doesn´t clear they are put on a waitlist. If their upgrade doesn´t clear >24 before departure they can put their name on the upgrade waitlist at check-in (<24h before departure).

It could happen that the upgrade clears 30min before departure and in that case your BP would have the ML*1 on it.
