Hi all. I'm travelling around the world and only wants to stay in good hotels. - I want the best hotel program, i'm thinking about Hyatt, but how good is it. I have the following questions and I will be happy if you can help me:
1) How often are you giving lounge access?
- Diamonds are guaranteed lounge access. If a hotel does not have a lounge (there are a few) or if a hotel's lounge is closed, the Diamond member will get a free full hot breakfast in the restaurant. The benefit usually applies to every registered guest in the room
2) How often are you giving upgrades to club room?
- Pretty much always, unless you got an upgrade to a suite!
3) How often are you giving upgrades to suites?
- You get 4 confirmed suite upgrades per year. These confirmed upgrades can be used at almost any Hyatt hotel worldwide (Park Hyatt, Grand Hyatt, Hyatt Regency) and upgrade you to the entry suite. These are often very nice, and many hotels offer 1000 square foot + suites for the Diamond upgrade. Even better - one upgrade is valid for up to a 7 day stay! You can use more than one suite upgrade if your stay is greater than 7 days.
- In addition, when not using a confirmed upgrade, it is certainly possible for a diamond member to receive a complimentary upgrade to a suite, but it is not guaranteed. Some hotels will even do a courtesy upgrade to a suite before you arrive at the hotel. Again - not guaranteed. You are however guaranteed to get the best available room, excluding suites.
4) Is Hyatt Diamond better than SPG Platinum and Hilton Diamond?
- In my opinion - yes. However, Hyatt has fewer hotels, especially in Europe.
- Diamonds also get a 500/1000 bonus point welcome amenity or a food and beverage amenity (food and bev only for intl properties)
5) How good is this program if you are staying on travel agency rates (expedia, priceline) - Still giving lounge/upgrade and/or points?
- All Diamond benefits, except confirmed suite upgrades, apply on ALL stays including free, discounted, travel agency, other sites, hotwire, expedia, priceline etc.
- Keep in mind though, when staying at Hyatt Place or Summerfield Suites, that your benefit will really only be the welcome amenity and bonus points. You may get a corner room, but thats about it at these properties.
