One thing about LA is that you wil most likely want a rental car as public tranportation is severly lacking
When visiting New York I tend to walk a lot, and public transport is good ^
When I was working as a field service engineer a couple of years ago my maximum food allowance for food was $30 per day
Still managed to eat quite well, especially in greater LA area
Of course I didn't do any shopping to speak of.

Well I wouldn't be able to get a rental car, even if I wanted to because I don't drive. Live in London so never really thought about it lol. We are staying with a friend who does drive though. Whats the situations with Cabs thoug, because we will probs be drinking some nights and she won't want to take her car I don't suppose?
