Hillrider: Didn't know about the "promo"-type arrangement for South American AAirpass use. Thanks for update. They have raised the price out of sight for European travel, even with the 80% multiplier. The 51cents/mile for travel is nuts. Agree with all your points.

I believe it was Alfred Kahn, the modern founder of Airline Deregulation, who was once asked, "What is the worst value in the airline industry?" His answer: "Full Fare Coach". I couldn't agree more. Anyway, I've flown it a heck of a lot. After all, that's my call sign. One of the things I enjoy most is finding a good weekend promo fare from SFO or SJC to JFK for $298--upgraded by whatever means available of course!
