An AAirpass costs 46 cents per mile for economy travel. That's nearly $2,500 for a Boston-San Francisco round trip - over full Y fare, and WAY over what most people pay. On shorter routes the picture is a bit better versus full Y, though it seldom beats B fare (three-day advance purchase, no Saturday night stay, complimentary EP upgrades).
AAirpass users get early boarding (along with elites), AC access and a couple of other privileges. They've paid for them, through the nose.
I travel a lot on business, but we watch our $$. No AAirpasses for us. The more of them AA sells, though, the better. I like to see them make lots of money from other people.
