this gets brought up time to time. As a gold I see way less risk in it not having to deal with 2 change fees. If you are booking in F you also have nothing to lose. The only possible problem is a sudden spike in airfare or something and you need to change both ways you may end up paying more than a RT rebooking. Also if there are partners involved often RT is going to be cheaper than 2 one ways especially with airlines like AA who still play the RT/OW fare games.
