Its quite common. During a recent visit to Kuala Lumpur, I booked seven nights at three different properties (two SPG, one Hilton) and all three of them billed me in USD, despite the fact that the rates quoted in my reservations were in local currency. All of the properties willingly obliged my request to be billed in local currency without much fuss, although one of them encountered some intellectual difficulties in accomplishing the task, which was later completed by the manager.
