Not my intent to open multiple cans of worms here, but...
Stranger than a bunch of folks buying zillions of boxes of Eggos? Or spending a weekend flying halfway around the world and back just for the miles? Or staying up late at night agonizing over which AA partners will or won't get them their 20/20 bonus? Or kvetching about not getting a drink before takeoff?
I guess strangeness is in the eye of the beholder...
