Hillrider, yes my ticket says "U", the boarding pass issued by BA says "W". Once I saw the seat I walked out to the gate agent to get the error corrected. She checked and replied that I had the right type of seat corresponding to the ticket I had.
With the plane fully boarded, and in this time and age when if one complaints "in-situ" one risk being labeled a threat, and facing what I saw would be a loosing situation, I resigned myself to the terrible coach+ seat and got back into the plane.
